School has started. For many athletes, training already started a while back. But are you in GOOD shape?

School has started – That means that many local high school or college athletes are preparing for games in soccer, cross country running, or football this fall. If your child is one of those then get them to consider visiting Zenaptic Chiropractic or Vancouver Disc Center of America for a thorough evaluation before they get too deep into the season with any current misalignment of their spine.
Those who have not received Chiropractic treatment in their past, tend to assume that the practice is only geared toward addressing back pain. But Chiropractic treatment also addresses and covers a large spectrum of conditions and symptoms that are connected to the muscular-skeletal system.
CHIROPRACTIC PAIN RELIEF FOR ATHLETES
The National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research in North Carolina reports that there are approximately 12,800 injuries that take place between high school and collegiate athletes.
Most injuries can be prevented with regular Chiropractic pre-injury treatment – strengthening and preparing the body for impacts and trauma from the games. Chiropractic care allows your body to both achieve and then maintain a superior level of mobility, flexibility, and motion.
Just a few reasons every athlete should receive Chiropractic care:
RELIEVE THE PUNISHMENT YOUR BODY ABSORBS
Most athletes who receive Chiropractic care on a regular basis notice significant benefits that range from improved concentration to greater flexibility.
These enhancents stem from the fact that Chiropractic Adjustments are extremely effective in reducing and relieving the stress your body absorbs when performing.
That stress can lead to vertebral subluxations that irritate your nervous system which then cause other issues throughout the muscular-skeletal system. Regular adjustments remove these subluxations from your spine and prevent others from developing or building up in the future, as the season progresses.
CHIROPRACTIC CARE RELIEVES PAIN ASSOCIATED WITH A VARIETY OF INJURIES
All athletes are subjected to a particular level of stress and strain, both during training and during the actual event, where their body is called upon to perform at it’s highest level, regardless of whether they are a cross country runner or play on the football team.
Again, regular Chiropractic Adjustments help treat injuries associated with high-impact sports, from back pain and muscle strain to tendonitis and hamstring tears.
Athletes who receive adjustments also experience:
- Significant improvement in their performance
- Increased range of motion
- Higher endurance
- Increased blood blow.
- For high impact athletes, Chiropractic care helps lower the risk for injury, while those who participate in low-impact sports (tennis players, bowlers) can reduce the amount of strain their body experiences from repetitive motion.
CHRONIC HEADACHES
Athletes who experience chronic headaches from participating in some high-impact sport can address their headach symptoms and pain through Chiropractic care.
Spinal manipulation usually provides immediate pain relief for headaches that are caused by a neck strain.
SHOULDER PAIN
Studies also show that following through with shoulder manipulation techniques help improve the healing process connected to shoulder injuries. This is especially important for athletes whose upper body in general, and the shoulder regions specifically are under continuous stress due to the nature of sports that the athlete practices.
The goal at DCOA is to contain and control Degenerative Disc Disease. Results vary patient to patient based on age, lifestyle, genetics, etc. Spinal Decompression treatment is designed to bring relief so as not to necessitate ongoing therapy. However once the event of decompression is obtained a retention program or maintenance schedule is recommended. It is our recommendation that doctors/patients integrate an active and passive exercise component in addition to a home care protocol designed to teach the patient to strengthen their back.
Disc Centers of America, works with disc cases all over the world. Only DCOA doctors are certified to utilize TDC Therapy. DCOA doctors receive ongoing training, research and are acknowledged by the International Medical Advisory Board on Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression and the International Disc Education Association.
